Young CEDA Seminar in Delft

On Monday, June 2nd 2014, the Dutch section of Young CEDA (Central Dredging Association) organized a seminar for students and young professional to inform them about working in the dredging industry. The seminar was organized at the Delft University of Technology and chaired by prof. dr. ir. Cees van Rhee, holding a position as professor ‘Dredging Engineering’ at the TU Delft.

A number of young professionals were invited to give a presentation about their experiences in the dredging industry in the first years of their career: Jort van Wijk (IHCM/TU Delft), Wouter Ockeloen (Van Oord), Jaap van Thiel de Vries (Boskalis) en Pim van Leeuwen/Hans Wortelboer (Dutch Dredging). The series of presentations was concluded with a general discussion on the differences in working for a larger dredging company relative to a smaller company

About 70 students from different universities and colleges around the country, with specific interest in Hydraulic Engineering, Maritime Engineering and Dredging Engineering, attended the seminar. They have been given a broad view on the opportunities about working in the dredging industry and were able to approach the professionals during the informal drinks at the end. Young CEDA is looking back with satisfaction at this event and hopes to welcome you in one of our future activities, please check the CEDA website connect to the Young CEDA LinkedIn page.
