60 students joined CEDA Dredging Days 2015

For young professionals, and students interested in joining the world of dredging, the recent CEDA Dredging Days had a fantastic programme of technical and social events on offer. As always the technical content is the main event and this year offered a particularly strong programme of carefully curated papers focussing on sustainable and innovative dredging solutions for ports.

As an important part of the programme, the Young CEDA activities created a platform for less-experienced CEDA members to express and present themselves, whilst giving them unrivalled opportunities to network with more experienced dredging professionals. To facilitate this there was a dedicated area - Young CEDA Corner - in the exhibition space, where students and Young CEDA members were able to meet each other and where more senior people were able to find them.

In total 60 students participated in the conference. The majority came from the Netherlands and Belgium, but there were also students from the UK, Germany and Portugal as well.

The Young CEDA pitch talk sessions with a dynamic series of 7 short, sharp presentations impressed everyone. “These young people have done very well.” – said many more experienced members of the audience.

The Young CEDA activities are a great way for young professionals to engage with and learn from more experienced professionals, and network with their peers. If you are a young professional, or responsible for the development of young professionals, then make sure that you rare involved. Contact Young CEDA at youngceda@dredging.org.
