Prof. Stefan Aarninkhof shares his insights about "Dredging for Sustainable Infrastructure"
At the end of 2018, CEDA and IADC jointly released the book Dredging for Sustainable Infrastructure. This reference work gives state-of-the-art guidance on how to design, implement and manage a water infrastructure project with a dredging component. Time has passed and we are excited to hear about the experiences and new insights that the book has provided.
In this video (click the image above) Stefan Aarninkhof, Professor of Coastal Engineering at Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands, will discuss this in detail. Stefan is a contributing author of the book and member of the editorial committee. Throughout his 20 year career in the water sector, he has been closely involved in the execution, programming and management of applied coastal research, continually working at the interface of science, engineering and design. The book has been designated as an official textbook for the TU Delft curriculum in dredging studies.

For professionals involved in dredging-related activities for water infrastructure development, CEDA and IADC are organising a new course: Dredging for Sustainable Infrastructure will take place on 1 and 2 December 2020 in Hotel Van der Valk in The Hague (NL).
During this 2-day course, participants will learn how to achieve dredging projects that fulfil primary functional requirements. Projects that both add value to the natural and socio-economic systems by understanding these systems in the context of dredging, as well as encourage stakeholder engagement throughout the project’s development.
Expert lecturers will present the latest thinking and approaches about sustainable maritime development. They will explain methodologies and techniques. Using workshops and cases studies, they will demonstrate – through numerous practical examples – how to implement this knowledge in practice. All participants will receive a copy of the book, distributed prior to the course, with an assignment to work on before the course starts.
