Young CEDA Commission in Antwerp
Young CEDA had their biannual Commission meeting in Antwerp on 20 February. The meeting was hosted by DEME on their vessel ‘Albatros’ as it sailed through the Port of Antwerp, which gave us plenty of opportunities to observe the port’s operations and dredging and construction projects.
The meeting started with a warm welcome to new Commission members Friederieke Lehne (Germany, HPA – Hamburg Port Authority) and Louis-Robert Cool (Belgium, dotOcean). After that, it continued with a presentation on the maintenance project on the Western Scheldt, which is a joint-venture between DEME and Jan de Nul.
As a result of our successful events of the past year, we made plans for new events in 2015 in our four core countries Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and the UK. We further discussed our plans to encourage students and young professionals to attend the CEDA Dredging Days 2015. Our concept programme comprises pitch talk sessions (5 minute presentations) as part of the congress programme, special invitations to students from southern and northern Europe, and a Young CEDA reception. The meeting concluded with a short visit to split TSHD ‘Pinta’.
Forthcoming events and updates will be announced via our Young CEDA LinkedIn group, so become a member and stay up-to-date!
