CEDA-NL Clubavond: Cyber security - What if...?
This is an ARCHIVED EVENT
CEDA Members can download the presentations here, you need to SIGN IN firstMost people in the dredging community, as in many other areas, remain oblivious to the risks and consequences related to cyber incidents. This while at the same time cyber incidents are found to be on the rise.
The world is increasingly entering a state of hyper-connectivity, which the World Economic Forum defines as “The increasing digital interconnection of people –and things- anytime and anywhere”. It is estimated that by 2020 there will be 50 billion networked devices bringing a range of benefits to business, government and individuals alike. Devices which are connected range from computer systems and smartphones to cars, medical devices and industrial control systems used on dredging vessels. This increasing interconnectedness also brings with it the risks traditionally associated with ICT systems. However risks are not limited to ICT only – all sectors are prone to it and the dredging industry is not an exception.
The event will bring three speakers to the floor; these are followed by a panel discussion which specifically aims to open up the discussion to include the audience.
The speakers represent a view from academia, more specifically the cybersecurity group at the TU Delft, and from the offshore community:
- Mark Luchs, MSc student Offshore and Dredging Engineering at the Delft University of Technology.
‘Setting the scene’ - Christian Doerr, assistant professor at the Cyber Security Group at the Delft University of Technology.
‘Why have a lock at all’ - Mr. Erik Otto, Senior Advisor Security, Royal Dutch Shell
‘Experiences from within the offshore industry’
Since one of the speakers comes from abroad this time the leading language will be English.
