About the course

The course will be taught in 4 half-day online sessions from 09:00 – 13:00 CET on 2, 3, 16 & 17 December 2021. During the course you will learn how to achieve dredging projects that fulfil primary functional requirements while adding value to the natural and socio-economic systems. This is possible by acquiring an understanding of these systems in the context of dredging as well as stakeholder engagement throughout a project’s development.

For whom

Are you a professional involved in dredging-related activities for water infrastructure development? Are you working in government, port authorities, consultancy firms, dredging companies, NGOs, suppliers or ship-builders? Is your ambition to achieve sustainable and resilient water infrastructure or dredging projects that contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals? If your answer to either of these questions is a “yes”, then do not miss the opportunity to join this course! Whether you are an ecologist, engineer, scientist, regulator or financier, valuable knowledge that can be put into practice right away awaits every participant.

Your lecturers

The lecturers of the course are Erik van Eekelen (Van Oord), Marc Huygens (DEME), Mark Lee (HR Wallingford), and Thomas Vijverberg (Boskalis). These experienced lecturers will inform you about the latest thinking and approaches, explain methodologies and techniques as well as demonstrate – through numerous practical examples – how to implement this information in practice with challenging workshops and case studies. All participants will receive a copy of the book, distributed prior to the course.

Guidebook

This course is based on the CEDA-IADC guidebook Dredging for Sustainable Infrastructure published in 2018. The book gives state-of-the-art guidance on how to design, implement and manage a water infrastructure project with a dredging component to project owners, regulators, consultants, designers and contractors. The presented insights result from a wealth of up-to-date knowledge pooled by an international team of scientists and practising industry experts.

More information about the learning objectives, programme, lecturers, fee and registration can be found below. For CEDA members and employees of IADC member companies there is a reduced registration fee.
