Brighton Marina to River Adur Coastal Scheme phase 2 

We would like to invite you to join the CEDA-UK Seminar & Site Visit being held in Brighton on Wednesday 9th September from 13:30-17:00 GMT.

Brighton is a famous seaside resort on the south coast of the UK, that hosts millions of visitors each year.  The seminar will showcase the Brighton Marina to River Adur Coastal Scheme (BMRACS) phase 2, which involves:

• Removing the old timber groynes and replacing them with new ones which extend further out to sea.
• Beach recharge using a trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) to add thousands of tonnes of shingle between the groynes to widen the beach.

Whilst managing the public interface with numerous businesses, local day-trippers and tourists in a busy seafront location, significant efforts have been made to engage with the community and deliver social value alongside the scheme.

This seminar will also showcase two other local marine projects: Brighton Marina Breakwaters and Southwick Reef.

After the presentations, there is an opportunity to visit the works on the beach and see first-hand the challenges managing coastal defence works in such a busy location.
