Abstract: Dredging of ports, canals and rivers, represents a fundamental challenge to maintain economic activity of a country. Fisheries, trade and craft are subject to the state of port infrastructure, access roads, including maintenance of a draft of adequate water for passage of boats. These producers of "dredged material" have very little recovery processes. The current paths implemented relate with beach nourishment, rehabilitation of quarries and agricultural use. They depend essentially on the size of the dredged material: sand or silt. For the most contaminated sediments, landfill is the most common practice but is very expensive for managers and communities. Objectives of the program COVASED, acronym of CO-VAlorization of SEDiments, are answers to the posed problem: lack of processes for an economic recovery and environmentally sustainable. COVASED concerns the recovery of dredged sediments and fine materials from a regional treatment platform for secure management. This platform is composed with a mechanized dewatering process and mixing units. So, mixtures are formulated with binders and eco-friendly additives on an industrial scale. She will produce innovative eco-materials based on sediment ready for use. COVASED is part of an economic policy and sustainable development through creation, development, management and sustainability of a pilot platform on an industrial scale, pretreatment, treatment and recovery of sediment from dredging and fine materials. If promising results COVASED program, it may be considered a duplication of this type of secure processing platform at the national or international level.
