Abstract
"Dredging is conducted for a wide variety of reasons including navigation, mineral extraction, construction and environmental cleanup of contaminated sediments. More and more frequently sediment treatment has become necessary in these type of operations, therefore so do polymers. In fact, when dewatering is required, using polymers is the best option. For the past 40 years the municipal water treatment industry has found polymers cost effective and efficient and, more recently, so has the dredging industry. Two dredging projects, started in 2017, have been selected to show the main benefits of polymers to the dredging industry."
