The Research and Manufacture of Wear and Corrosion Resistance Accessories of Slurry Pump for Dredge

Abstract: The life span of dredging tools is one of the key problems of engineering dredgers. Especially, nowadays the working scope of dredger is become wider and wider, and the composition of dredged material is become more and more complex, such as excavation of weathered rock at sea bottom, and excavation of specific clay soil in the coastal areas of China, etc. Based on the analysis of the special service conditions under dredging projects, the principles to design and select wear resistance materials used on the slurry pump accessories were established. Under the guidance of the principles, a new type of wear and corrosion resistance alloy cast iron Cr25MoCuRe, which used on pump casing, suction liner, wearing ring, etc, and a new type of wear and corrosion resistance lower alloy cast steel `CrNiMoRe', which used on impeller, were developed. Meanwhile, in accordance with the respective structure features of different accessories, appropriate manufacture technologies were determined. The two materials were respectively tested by their microstructure, mechanical properties, seawater corrosion resistance properties and scouring wear resistance properties, and were compared with other wear resistance material. The experiment results showed, the microstructure of Cr25MoCuRe cast iron after heat treatment was M+A'+M7C3, with excellent scouring wear resistance and seawater corrosion resistance, and certain toughness, the microstructure of CrMoNiRe cast steel after heat treatment was M+A', with high strength and compact toughness, fairly good seawater corrosion resistance and scouring wear resistance. Both of the two materials showed obvious superiority compared with other materials. Large scale slurry pump accessories such as pump casing, suction liner, wearing ring, impeller were manufactured and applied in waterway and seaport dredge, the results showed these new material accessories had excellent service properties, with much longer service life than those produced by other materials, and great economic efficiency and social efficiency were achieved.
