Abstract: As well as delivering standard valves, a great deal of work is being done on customer-oriented product development. The principle and outline design of the valve is generally known throughout the dredging world. The need for a valve that can be used more dynamically has resulted in the development of the `Sturdy Type gate valve'. Based on the error and functional analyses and discussions with dredgers, various alterations have been generated. Proposed alterations have been resulted in a design for a more heavy duty gate valve.
Over the years a search has been undertaken for other valves or methods for regulating the flow of dredge mixtures. For some time, we have been involved in the development of a compact valve, the so-called rotary valve. The slide on this valve makes a rotating movement, as the name suggests. Naturally this has advantages; the cylinder need no longer be mounted on the valve housing, and the cylinder with sensor system is entirely outside the valve housing. As a result, the build-in dimensions of the valve are smaller, and the cylinder is not in contact with the dredge mixture.
Just in time delivery of high quality materials and 24 hours of services and capability of sharing product life cycle knowledge with suppliers, are resulting in a higher output of dredging installations. The new development of Digital Information Systems and onboard monitoring systems are necessary to create an efficient dredging solution for there customers. The focus on product innovation is always necessary but product support like services and information sharing are getting more and more important for high output dredging companies inclusive its suppliers.
