Abstract: Like other areas of the Kingdom, the Tangier-Tetouan area with the development of its port, railway, road, motorway and tourist infrastructure is in need of aggregates inevitably involving a reduction for the resources and thus forcing research for other feeding zones, most probably sea ones, to satisfy this need.

The bay of Tangier chosen as an example because of the retreat of its coast feature from 0,5 to 3 m per annum, recorded the impact of the two factors, natural and anthropic. The convergence of the natural factors’ effects such as the violent East wind, the occasional storms, the coastal currents in relation to the Atlantic – Mediterranean exchanges and the total rise in the sea level with those caused by the human factor such as construction works and port and coastal developments, the reduction of the rivers’ contributions, the destruction of the offshore bar and the abusive exploitation of the beach sand, lead to a degree of degradation, especially in the Eastern part of the bay (Zone of Ghandouri).

Within the framework of concerted solutions, the decision makers are currently carrying out sand recharging in the East starting from the sands accumulated in the West. For a sustainable development, this recharging requires follow-ups on the basis of assessment.
