Abstract: Engineering Material is one of the most important factors for dredging tools. The application and development of high wear-resistant material, advanced structural material and other new materials in dredging are reviewed. Wear failure of dredging equipments, such as drag head, cutter head, slurry pump and pipeline, and fracture failure of structural material in dredging equipment are analyzed. Finding out the mechanism of the material failures under complex dredging conditions are vital to solving different material problems in dredging engineering. Furthermore, surface hardening of cutting tools and the research on slurry abrasion by our group are introduced.
